Officials Wanted

There is ALWAYS the need for officials and the organisers invites anyone interested in officiating at the Bega Valley Rally to contact them. Contact:

Christine Bethwaite, Officials Coordinator - christine@bethwaite.com or 0414 582 025

Tom Snooks, Clerk of Course – kemdot@iprimus.com.au or 0428 165 275

          or nominate  using the on-line form at

       http://www.vicrallychampionship.com.au/official_signup.php

Some officials will return from last year, and previous years, but some won’t, for all sorts of reasons. So openings for officials pop up each year.

The event is planned to be run over eight special stages (all approximately 18-27km long), and officials working on the first two stages can move onto the last two if they wish to make a full day’s officiating of it.

Darkness falls in at about 1715/1730, depending on the cloud cover denseness.

Officials required are:

In Lead Up to Event . . .

Equipment Officer (OFFICIAL STILL BEING SOUGHT)

An Equipment Officer is being sought; a car with towing facilities desirable but not essential. Required to assist with collection of equipment throughout four weeks prior to the event, taking to Eden and distributing to officials on Friday/Saturday. Collect gear Sunday night/Monday morning and bring back to Melbourne and then distribute back to whence it came.

Saturday 12 June

Stage Set Up (OFFICIALS SECURED)

Four sets of officials to take on two stages each and set these up. This involves travelling through the stages on the Saturday afternoon putting out road closure tapes and notices, setting up spectator viewing areas, as well as putting out road closure signs on roads leading into the forests at their junction with the main roads. At times the tapes will be tied at one end and the Safety Officer will tie them up when he travels around in front of the field.

Time from 1200 to 1630.  Distance to travel will be about 100-120km.

Service Area Set Up (OFFICIALS SECURED)

Two or three sets of officials setting up the two service break areas. Time from 1200 to 1630.  Distance to travel will be about 50 – 70km.

Eden Wharf Start (OFFICIALS SECURED)

One set of officials to set up the wharf area in readiness for the start on Sunday morning. Time from 1500 to 1700.

Sunday 13 June

All controls are accessible by using good roads and most are not far off the main roads, and ‘normal’ road cars will be quite suitable

Stage Officials (OFFICIALS STILL BEING SOUGHT)

Road closure and SOS officials will need to travel along the special stages of course, and in the main these are of good surface but would to suit a low lying vehicle. A four wheel drive vehicle will be best for these duties, but a prepared car would not have problems – the organisers will allocate better road surfaces to officials with the latter cars.

NSW COMPETITORS NOTE

The NSW Rally Competition Conditions for 2010 provide for competitors earning championship points for officiating.

Once a year any driver/co-driver may elect to not compete at a round of a series they are contesting but still score series points by officiating at an event. The uptake of this clause is voluntary and drivers/co-drivers are not obliged to officiate at any event.

The following conditions apply:

Points can only be earned in a series by officiating at a round of the same series;
In return for officiating the driver/co-driver will be awarded the outright and class points allocation that they would have received had they won the event;
In order to qualify for points, the intention to officiate MUST be registered with the organisers by the close of entries (eg: for BVR by 1800 hours Wednesday 2 June);
Drivers/co-drivers who start the event cannot score officiating points by then volunteering to officiate;
It is the responsibility of the driver/co-driver to have an officiating document signed by the Clerk of Course or (Event Secretary), within seven days and lodge this with the NSW Rally Panel Chairman within seven days of the event;
Officiating points will not be awarded to Stewards, Checker, Area Coordinator;
If a driver/co-driver has not yet competed in the series he/she wishes the officiating points to be allocated to he/she must nominate the series for the points to be allocated to. The decision is final and cannot altered;
If a driver/co-driver is registered in more than one series, and both series are contested at the same event, the driver/co-driver must nominate which series the officiating points are to be allocated against.

Bad Behavior has blocked 31 access attempts in the last 7 days.
