The Bega Valley Rally, a round of the New South Wales, Victorian Rally Championships and ACT Regional Rally Series, will be based in Eden over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. A high speed car rally conducted over closed roads, the event will be run on Sunday 10 June 2012, with the permission of Forests NSW and East Gippsland Shire Council. The public is advised not to visit the rally area on the Sunday.
Roads used for the competition are closed to public use and will be clearly marked with tape and signs. Forests to be used are:
- Nullica Forest north of Eden using Broadwater Road (from noon)
- Nullica Forest to east of Eden, north and south of Towamba Road (from noon)
- Nadgee Forest south of Wonboyn Road to the Victorian Border (all day)
- East Boyd Forest south of Kiah to Imlay Road, to the west to include Anteater Road (all day)
- Timbillica Forest, south of Imlay Road to Wallagaraugh River (all day)
- Yambulla Forest south of Allan Brook Road (all day)
Advance warning signs will be erected three weeks prior to the event on all main roads/tracks leading to the rally roads that will be used. Fuller details of these areas to be released in the week prior to the event and will list specific road closures for each area in which the event will be conducted.
On Friday 8 and Saturday 9 June the rally organisers will be travelling over the roads setting up the rally logistics, and again on Monday 11 June clearing away signs. Anyone using the roads should do so with great care.
TRAIL BIKE RIDERS in particular are advised to avoid using the forests. Note: the Broadwater Road will be used this year and the road will be closed from noon.
The Bega Valley Rally will start from the Snug Cove Wharf, with cars leaving between 0730 and 0930. The Rally Headquarters will be based at the Eden Fishermen’s Club over the weekend.
